Horizon 2030: a climate trajectory aligned with + 1.5°C
As a member of the SMCP group, Maje is committed to a climate trajectory validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the leading international organisation in this field. Its greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets are aligned with a 1.5°C trajectory, the most ambitious level defined by the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement.
SMCP and Maje aim to reduce their carbon footprint by 36% in absolute terms between 2022 and 2030 and to become carbon neutral by 2050.
Commitments at every level
These objectives guide Maje's trajectory in terms of priority levers for action: • Materials : increasing the use of certified and recycled materials as well as work on fibre blends to reduce the weight of the most carbon-intensive materials. • Suppliers and energy : mapping key sites and their energy mix, and engaging in ongoing dialogue to reduce the share of coal and encourage the use of renewable energy. • Logistics and transport : reducing the share of air freight in favour of sea and rail. • Circular economy : rolling out repair, second-hand and rental services, which extend product lifespans and limit the production of new items.
